The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) released a Status Report entitled, “Head Restraints can Protect our Necks”. The report provides detailed information on the performance of head restraint systems and their rankings.
 
The system described in both publications uses the original H-Point Machine, also known as “OSCAR”, and the ICBC Head Restraint Measuring Device. Humanetics currently offers the ICBC Head Restraint Measuring Device under part number 6000312. This device affixes to the original H-Point Machine (SAE Standard J826, SAE Handbook, Vol. 3,1999).
 
Customers that currently own the original H-Point Manikin can simply purchase the ICBC Head Restraint Measuring Device (P/N 6000312) to perform the test. IIHS will continue to rate vehicles with the original H-Point machine and ICBC headform.
