Potentiometers
The potentiometers (displacement transducers) are an essential component part for the identification of injury criteria in crash-test dummies as well as for the dynamic distance measurement on structures or automobiles. In order to be able to calibrate the potentiometers of different manufacturers and models, Humanetics Europe has developed special calibration devices. The procedure of the calibration is carried out with the sensor and application area in accordance with the respective validation regulations (e.g. SAE J2517 for the chest potentiometer of the Hybrid III dummy family). The reference standards deployed in the laboratory are constantly examined and regularly calibrated by the DKD. The distribution of the calibration data is realised in a customer specific manner which varies from calibration reports as a hardcopy to exchange files in XML-format.
Accelerometer - Shock
In order to perform the shock calibration of accelerometers we use a calibration pendulum, designed by Humanetics Europe, for the calibration of sensors in a range up to 200g. The calibration of sensors is either carried out over an amplitude or, depending on the customer's specification, over a range of different amplitudes. Additionally, it is possible to perform a shock linearity calibration with an acceleration between 20 and 150g. As a reference standard we use the Endevco model 2270, the complete measuring chain is traiced to the norm of the physical technical federal agency (PTB). The distribution of the calibration data is realised in a customer specific manner which varies from calibration reports as a hardcopy to exchange files in XML-format.
Accelerometer - Sine
In order to perform the frequency calibration of accelerometers we use a Bouche-Shaker in combination with a Spektra Calibration System. This system gives us the possibility to calibrate accelerometers in a range from 20 to 50000Hz. As a reference standard we use the Endevco model 2270M8, the complete measuring chain is traced to the norm of the physical technical federal agency (PTB), which the measuring inaccuracy accounts for 1,5% with 40Hz and 1,0% with 80 and 160Hz. The evaluation of the testee's transfer factor takes place at 40, 80 and/ or 160Hz with amplitudes of 1g or 10g. Moreover, we offer the calibration of a given frequency range whereupon the frequency response is displayed linear between 20 and 10000Hz and logarithmic from 10kHz. The distribution of the calibration data is realised in a customer specific manner which varies from calibration reports as a hardcopy to exchange files in XML-format.
Accelerometer - Cross Axis
The identification of the accelerometer's cross sensitivity is very important in many areas, accelerometers applied in crash-tests are required to a cross sensitivity of <3%. The evaluation of this data is usually done during the manufacturing of a new sensor, as well as with the exchange of a sensor element. We have all the necessary technical facilities to operate this type of sensor measurement in order to be able to offer this reparation service in our service centre in Heidelberg. The inspect is done by using a rotary table - on which the sensor is assembled - which is stimulated orthogonally to the measuring axis of the sensor. The table can be rotated at 360° in order to test the sensor in all directions. The distribution of the calibration data is realised in a customer specific manner which varies from calibration reports as a hardcopy to exchange files in XML-formats.
Other Transducers
Since we have cooperation with local calibration laboratories, we can offer our customers the possibility to have all their measuring equipment calibrated at one location. The calibration of tilt sensors, angular rate sensors, pressure transducers as well as other electrical and mechanical devices can be performed. The distribution of the calibration data is realised in a customer specific manner which varies from calibration reports as a hardcopy to exchange files in XML-format.
