UNECE Regulation R127 [Flex-PLI]

Starting from January 22, 2015 - the UNECE Regulation No. 127  "Uniform provisions concerning the approval of motor vehicles with regards to their pedestrian safety performance" introduces the Flexible Pedestrian Legform Impactor (Flex-PLI). During a three year transition period vehicle type approval may be performed using either this new tool or the existing legform as described in Annex 4 of the Regulation No. 127. Due to its high biofidelic characteristics along with its excellent leg injury assessment ability it was decided that the Flex-PLI is to replace this impactor.

In order to support the development of vehicle systems, Humanetics has released version 2.0 of the Flex-PLI models in LS-DYNA, PAM-CRASH, RADIOSS and ABAQUS in 2012. The models have been developed within a consortium and its organization started preparation targeting an extension of the project to confirm validation to the latest hardware and certification corrections and further increase confidence.
